Sanitary Materials

What is medical absorbent cotton?

Definition: It is a material consisting of pad type cotton fiber for medical use such as applying medicinal chemicals, absorbing small amount of body fluids from a patient’s body surface, etc.

What is medical gauze?

Definition: It is a medical appliance consisting mainly of gauze that fits to surgical incisional wounds and other skin wounds or internal tissue structure in order to suppress bleeding, to absorb exudates, and to protect organs against scratch, drying or contamination.

What is clean cotton?

In many cases it means absorbent cotton impregnated with e.g. chlorhexidine gluconate solution, and is classified by the Japanese Pharmaceutical Affairs Act as designated quasi drug.

What is non-woven fabric?

It is a sheet type thin cloth made of intertwining fiber or those bonded by thermal, mechanical or chemical action, without weaving fiber or string.

What is alcohol-impregnated cotton (antiseptic cotton)?

It means absorbent cotton or non-woven fabric impregnated mainly with high concentration of ethanol or isopropanol, which is used as a wiping medium prior to injection.

What is a cottonball?

It means ball-like mass of cotton fiber used for applying antiseptic solution onto various body sites or removing liquids.

Oil Adsorbent

What material is used for natural fiber high performance oil adsorbent?

Mainly plant-based natural fiber is used, the principal material of which is a fiber originating from cottonseed, so this product does not have negative impact on environment, unlike pulp products do on deforestation.

How high is the performance of KAKUI product?

Common adsorbents, notably polypropylene (PP) products are capable of adsorbing about 10 times heavier oils than their own weight, whereas Kakui’s oil adsorbing mat adsorbs 30-40 times heavier oils than its own weight. Besides such adsorbing capacity, reduction in industrial waste as environmental measures and in cost of usage would be expected.

There are many kinds of oils. So, does adsorbing capacity differ by their types?

Wide variety of oils exists, ranging from mineral bunker oil with relatively high viscosity to animal/plant oil commonly used for cooking. Nonetheless, KAKUI products adsorb any oils well non-selectively (on average, they adsorb 30 times heavier oils than their own weight).

What kinds of material are used for adsorbents on the market?

Mostly sheet type polypropylene (PP) fibers derived from petroleum represent more than 90% on the market.

What and how is Kakui Oilsolver® different from polypropylene (PP)?

1.Raw material is different.
* PP products (chemical fiber) and Kakui’s oil adsorbing mat (plant-based natural fiber)
2.Oil adsorbing capacity is different.
* PP products (about 10 times as heavier oils than its weight) and Kakui’s oil adsorbing mat (more than 30 times)
* Kakui’s adsorbs oils about three times faster than PP products (meaning three times less working time)
3.Lighter material
* PP products (e.g. about 10 kg per case)
* Kakui’s oil adsorbing mat (e.g. K-50: about 5 kg per case)

Does Kakui Oilsolver® adsorb water?

Kakui products are basically capable of shedding water (hydrophobic) and therefore adsorb little water unless affected by some external factor.
* This may not be the case when a surfactant exist.

Does it adsorb only oils, no water?

Hydrophobic fiber does not adsorb water-soluble liquids. Not only oils but oil paints, organic solvents can be adsorbed.

Where are these products used? How are they effective?

1.They can be used for removing oils from around machines in a service factory, and for wiping off oils scattered in a workplace.
In addition, higher efficiency by reduce time for oil collection can be expected.
2.It would be easier to collect floating oils observable on the surface of drainage tank and oil-water separation tank in a factory. Moreover, immediate treatment of spilled oils in large quantities would contribute to fulfillment of social responsibility.
* Care should be paid to the River Act, Water Quality Pollution Control Act, and Fire Service Act.
* (Bulk type: KB-500, Sheet type: K-50, etc.)
3.3. They can be used for prior stockpiling at key points to prevent oil spillage within stores/factories. Besides, it is recommended to use them as preventive measures against oil-related accidents.
(Floor mat: FG5090, Emergency Oil and Liquid Disposal Kit, etc.)
4.They can be used for adsorbing oil spillage from various facilities, scattered oils, and floating oils inside coolant tanks.
(Sheet type: E-40/F-50, Tube type: KT-100, etc.)

Can I cut?

Kakui products, both Sheet type and Roll type, can be cut using a scissor.

Please let me know how to dispose of used products.

1.After adsorbing oils and other liquids, their chemical characters would come out. So they should be disposed of in accordance with appropriate disposal methods and rules as set out by the local administration.
2.If there is no potential of explosion and other danger, you may ask some expert waste disposal service or dispose of them by incineration in a high-calorie incinerator equipped with countermeasures against dioxin. Even in such cases, no dioxin and poisonous gas will be generated from sheets themselves by incineration.

Are there any precautions?

1.Care should be taken in the event of surfactant immixing, as oil adsorbent might sink down. When a surfactant is mixed to water, oil adsorbent can sink.
2.The products should be stored in a room at normal temperature and with no direct sunlight (avoiding high temperature and humidity).
3.They should be kept away from fire such as heating appliance. (NO FIRE)
4.Used oil adsorbents should be immediately collected and discarded.
5. In particular, if they are used at sea or similar situations, they should always be collected so that secondary contamination by the uncollected adsorbants containing oils can be prevented.
6.Because of using natural fiber, they might be possibly eroded by some acid, alkali or any other chemical agent.

Cotton Puffs

I would like to roll out some new, private brand (PB) commodities.

We can produce wide variety of products as your new brand, private brand commodities in the course of our OEM operations. Please feel free to contact us upon reviewing information about our principal products.

How much is the quantity of minimum production lot?

You may consult us first, as production conditions vary across products, and especially in case of producing in extremely small lots there would be limitation on specifications and some impact on cost.

I would like to develop high value-added commodities dwelling also on raw materials.

We use raw materials supplied by the current best material manufactures for each product to be commercialized. If you envisage high value-added commodities absolutely different in the feel of texture from others, your best choice would be to consult us. You will surely realize the difference.

I would like you to produce commodity packages and other items as well.

As well as packages for displaying commodities in stores, we can design and provide even outer cases for transport.
